Remember Walt, and Keep Moving Forward
I keep getting bogged down in the news. It drains my creative energy like terracotta pulls water from a sponge and I just want to curl up on a chair and mope. It is difficult to keep up creative energy when everything is either frustrating or depressing. I have this huge opportunity I need to raise money for and I have to make plans. It is hard to find the time and the mental energy to fill out all of the forms for grants. It is a mental mind bender scrubbing the internet for the grants to apply for. Nothing pulls your mental gears out of alignment like depression. It is important to keep a focus on my goals and what I want to accomplish with them.
Walt Disney productions did a movie called “Meet the Robinsons” and I suspect it was based on the motto that Walt put up all over, “Keep Moving Forward”. A lot of Disney movies have motivational messages in them. “When you wish upon a star”, “Ohana means family, and nobody gets left behind. or forgotten”, “The only limit is your imagination”, “Sometimes the right path, isn’t always the easiest one.” Disney has lasted long past Walt but they do seem to keep giving us a bit of a compass.
Okay, so maybe I am a bit of a Mary Sunshine; I’ll admit it. We need the doom sayers as much as you need the optimists. I will claim to be a pragmatist in public, but let’s face it; when the chips are down, I’ll be the one out looking for the shy ray of sunshine. Here is the deal, I have 12 months to raise the money.
